$2 Million Autoclave Upgrade at Crucible Compaction Metals    
 
Crucible Materials Corporation, headquartered in Syracuse, NY, has authorized a $2 million upgrade to the autoclave at their Compaction Metals facility, in Oakdale, PA. They have hired Autoclave Engineers, a division of Snap-tite, Inc. located in Erie, PA for the design and re-build, with expected completion the first quarter of 2006. "Once the project is finished, this vessel will be re-commissioned for operation through at least 2024," said Crucible executive James D. Beckman. Crucible Compaction Metals is a major supplier of P/M (powder metal) alloys to various industries including aerospace, power generation, plastic tooling, and marine systems. The autoclave in Oakdale is one of several within the corporation, and one of the largest in the world. It is used for HIP (hot isostatic pressing) processing of Crucible's own P/M products, as well as toll-HIP services for the densification of investment castings.
